5 Best brunch places in Porto
The brunch culture is not something you would have found 10-15 years ago in Porto. However, with the influx of tourists needing a stuffing meal to kick off the day before visiting, there are now numerous places to choose from. Here are my top picks to start the day with a delicious brunch.
Swallow Decadent Brunch
Located in an industrial part of the center, this café does one thing and does it very well. In their description on Instagram, they say that their style is an “American style brunch”. Therefore, expect generous pancake servings, waffles with eggs, and French toast with delicious berries. Mind that they’re open between 10 am and 3 pm.

O Diplomata
If you always go for pancakes for brunch, then this is the place for you. “Coffee, Food, & Pancakes” as their bio says on Instagram. With its wide variety of serving styles, this is the best pancake place in Porto. The café is right next to the Igrejo do Carmo and the famous “Harry Potter” library Lello. Great way to start the day before visiting them!

Eleven Lab Concept
Situated close to the previous entry, the Eleven Lab is located north of the Ribeira. While this looks like a brunch café, the Eleven Lab is also way more. It is a venue for live music, samba nights, and more events. However, their food is also one of the best in town. Their English breakfast is a killer! I attached a picture of it next to this text. Have brunch but make sure to come back in the evening for some samba!

Pimenta Rosa – Urban Cuisine
If you are looking for a no-nonsense, filling brunch or lunch for an affordable price, then Pimenta Rosa is the place. They have a buffet every day with a wide variety of styles of food. They also have pizza if your +1 wants something Italian. If you have a sweet tooth, they bake their homemade cakes and desserts. The restaurant can be found north of the Museu Nacional Soares dos Reis.

Alto Porto
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Porto. They call themselves “neo-bistrot”, while I am unsure what that means I can say that they prepare amazing dishes. This is not your average pancake house as the restaurant aims to take the dishes to the next level (hence “alto” maybe?). They serve brunch from 10 am to 4 pm and dinner 7 pm to 11 pm. Should you not have time for the brunch I highly recommend trying their dinner as well.
